Summary
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Director, the QA Analyst will perform duties to assure raw ingredients, packaging, and finished products meet or exceed Clyde’s Food Safety and Quality requirements. This role will have data analysis responsibilities across two sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports as required.
- Develop and implement databases, data analytics and/or other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Provide technical assistance and training as required to support the implementation of SPC to meet customer and internal requirements.
- Develop and deliver training in SPC.
- Review and create where needed, operation and work instructions related to SPC.
- Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems as required.
- Determine product, raw ingredient, and packaging acceptability in comparison to specifications and company procedures
- Maintain, calculate, and update finished product specifications
- Research root causes of in-process and post-production nonconformities
- Track and trend data to understand relationship between production data and patterns observed
- Perform analysis of data gathered during finished product characteristic (size, weights, temperatures) and incoming raw ingredient characteristic checks
- Work collaboratively with all departments to identify areas of improvement throughout the production process
- Enforce Quality & Food Safety expectations and report issues to the Director Quality Assurance and the Director Food Safety, and/or Production Managers/Supervisors
- Identify and place nonconforming product on hold if necessary
- Provide coverage for Quality Technicians if needed
- Complies with all Food Safety Requirements including GMPs when in production areas and reports all food safety or quality issues to supervisor or Food Safety department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (Mathematics, Statistics, or Food Science preferred)
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the application of statistical methods in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus, but not required
- Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations - knowledge of SPC and Sensory statistical techniques
- Comfortable in a lab and a plant environment
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
- Knowledge of business analytic tools and statistical software, i.e. PowerBi, MiniTab or similar
- Ability to work with small instruments and or equipment for measurements or readings
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
